# Emails and notifications

> Which emails Tikk sends to you and to the people who book you and which of them you can turn off.

Tikk emails both sides of a booking. You control which ones reach you; the ones your clients need are always sent.

## Your preferences

Go to **Settings → Notifications** to choose what you receive.

| Setting                  | What it controls                                                    |
| ------------------------ | ------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **New meeting requests** | An email when someone submits a request on your booking page. |
| **Booking updates** | An email when a booking is confirmed, accepted or declined. |
| **Meeting reminders** | An email 24 hours before each scheduled meeting. |
| **Setup reminders** | Occasional nudges to finish your profile and set your availability. |
| **Newsletter** | Product updates, tips and news from Tikk. |

<Warning>
  If you use manual approval, leave **New meeting requests** on. It's the only
  thing telling you a request is waiting and unanswered requests get declined
  automatically once their slot has passed.
</Warning>

<Note>
  Payment receipts and other transactional emails are always sent, whatever
  these settings say. They're records, not notifications.
</Note>

## What the person booking receives

These aren't affected by your settings. They're the emails that make the booking work:

| When                  | What they get                                          |
| --------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------ |
| Request accepted | Confirmation with the time and the meeting link |
| Request declined      | A note that it didn't go ahead                         |
| Paid booking accepted | A payment link to complete the booking |
| Payment received      | A receipt                                              |
| Booking rescheduled | The new time |
| Booking cancelled | A cancellation notice, including any message you wrote |
| 24 hours before       | A reminder                                             |

## Reminders

The 24-hour reminder goes to **both** of you. Yours can be switched off under **Meeting reminders**; the attendee's is always sent.

<Tip>
  The reminder is the single biggest lever on no-shows. If you're tempted to
  turn yours off because your calendar already reminds you, leave it on anyway.
  It's also the moment you'd notice a booking you meant to move.
</Tip>

## Language

Tikk speaks English, Dutch and French. Set yours under **Settings → Appearance → Language**; it applies to the app and to the emails you receive.
